Information Booths & Guides
Louisiana Book Festival T-shirts, Mugs, and/or Book Bags will be available for purchase in the Information Booth.
Duties include:

Welcome guests to the Louisiana Book Festival
-
Provide information, directions, maps and programs to attendees Answer festival-related questions
-
Manage lost and found items
-
Report emergency information or situations
Author Registration and Escorts
Volunteers are needed to escort authors to assigned area(s) and panel discussions in the Louisiana State Capitol.
Duties include:
-
Assist with author check-in and hospitality at the festival
-
Escort authors to their program(s), panel discussion(s), and/or book signing location(s)
-
Serve as an assistant to the author by performing simple errands such as providing refreshments and/or assisting with book signing
Book Signing Tent
Volunteers are needed to assist authors who will sign their featured books shortly following their presentations. Books by every featured author will be signed and available for purchase.
Duties include:

Greet visitors and authors
-
Help maintain traffic flow in the book signing tent area

Prepare and manage author-signing areas
-
Assist with merchandise
-
Be able to stand for long periods of time
Young Readers' Pavilion (Children’s Area)
The Young Readers’ Pavilion offers children’s book-related activities, photo opportunities, costumed storybook characters, face painting, writing enrichment projects, storytelling performances, and presentations inside the State Library of Louisiana.
Duties include:

Keeping area clean and organized
-
Assist children with crafts
-
Assist performers and storytellers
-
Dress up in storybook character costumes (will be provided) and interact with children

Assist with face painting children’s faces
Activity-Craft Tent
Duties include:
-
Assist in preparing patterns and supplies for crafts
-
Distribute craft materials to children
-
Assist children with crafts
Face Painting Tent
Duties include:
Storytelling Tent
Duties include:

Introduce storytellers
-
Greet guests and patrons
-
Assist storytellers (if needed)
-
Take attendance for each performance
-
Assist with seating
-
Monitor programs and performances
-
Distribute and collect evaluation forms
Seminar Center
(Children’s Programs in State Library of Louisiana)
Duties include:

Assist authors and performers

Concessions
Duties include:

Greet attendees and authors
-
Sell beverages
-
Manage supplies of Ice, Coke products, and cups

Must be able to stand, bend, reach, and do light lifting
Cooking Demonstration Tent
Cooking demonstrations are scheduled throughout the day and chefs and cookbook authors will discuss and demonstrate Louisiana cooking.
Duties include:
Room Monitors
Room Monitors will be needed in the Louisiana State Capitol and the Louisiana State Museum.
Duties include:

Prepare rooms before and after presentations

Welcome guests and introduce each scheduled program

Take attendance
-
Monitor late entrances, exits, door and hall noises
-
Distribute and Collect evaluation forms and other materials at the end of the program
Smart
(Site Maintenance and Resource Team)
Duties include:
-
Assist with site set-up and take-down
-
Assist with transportation during the festival event
-
Transport physically impaired
-
Deliver operational supplies (ice, programs, transport, etc)
-
Assist Janitorial Service with trash pick-up and disposal
-
Maintain and keep festival grounds organized
-
All drivers must be 21 years of age or older, with a valid drivers license
