VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Book Festival is back!

Louisiana’s world-class celebration of readers, writers and their books will return to Baton Rouge from 10:00 AM – 7:30 PM on Saturday, October 4, 2008. We want you to be part of it.

The 6th  annual event will feature more than 125 authors discussing their books; the Young Readers Pavilion, where children and parents will enjoy storytelling performances, face painting and other exciting activities; and a wide variety of book-related activities, demonstrations, exhibitions and performances. Food and music will complement the festive occasion. It all takes place at the State Library of Louisiana, the Louisiana State Capitol, the Louisiana State Museum, and in tents on neighboring streets.

Volunteers are essential to the festival’s success. Whether it’s escorting one of the festival’s authors, serving as room monitors in the Capitol, or working with children in the Young Readers Pavilion, your help is needed. If you’re interested in volunteering and would like more information about the festival as well as volunteer opportunities, visit our website at www.LouisianaBookFestival.org. Or, if you’ve already made up your mind to volunteer, go directly to http://lbf.state.lib.la.us/volunteers.html and select the “I Want To Volunteer” link.

Being a Louisiana Book Festival volunteer is a fun and rewarding experience. We do hope you’ll decide to join us. Your sign-up is not a commitment for the entire day; you’ll still be able to enjoy aspects of the festival.

Inquiries may be made by writing Rachel Stewart, LBF Volunteer Coordinator, at lbfvolunteer@state.lib.la.us, or by calling 225-342-4922.
